Nousheen Leila Saboonpaz

Jewellery Designer-Maker

Questioning what we perceive as precious, and elevating the beauty found in nature.

Exploring contrasts of textures, clashing the natural with the man-made and preserving found natural items which would otherwise be lost.

Seeking out the overlooked, foraging and finding treasures. Encasing and entrapping a fragment of the natural process of decay. Capturing pieces of nature which have fulfilled their purposes.

Exposing stronger pieces, for the wearer to enjoy their tactility. Capturing heavily decayed and fragile pieces in glass. Preserving seasonal fungi in a metal casing, allowing their beauty not to be lost.

Suggesting the pieces’ fragile states, and the notion of their extinction.

Clothes Show Live, Birmingham

I have been invited to take part in “Occupy the Clothes show”, with the Craftspace Collective, responding to the theme of consumers being socially responsible

I will be creating two ranges of work, on Sunday 4th December and Monday 5th December.

Really excited for exploring a new route in my practice. I have worked with fabrics and screen-printing in the past, and thoroughly enjoyed the processes. (And making a huge mess)

More info will be at: http://www.craftspace.co.uk

I’ll keep you updated…..
